Today we went to go see “Yu-Gi-Oh! Bonds Beyond Time” 3D movie & thought I’d write a review about it! I took some sceencaps from the movie.
The antagonist named Paradox (who is a character in the Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D’s anime series) is the main villain in the movie. His goal is to steal all the legendary cards (Stardust Dragon, Cyber End Dragon, Rainbow Dragon, Red Eyes B. Dragon & Blue Eyes White Dragon), turn them into Malefics & kill Maximillion Pegasus – the creator of Duel Monsters.
Paradox comes from the future & he manages to go back in time in order to steal the legendary cards. Yusei Fudo uses the power of The Crimson Dragon & goes back in time to save the future. He bands together with Jaden & Yugi in order to prevent the death of Pegasus, save their friends & the game they all love.

It started out as a 20 minute introduction to the history of Yu-Gi-Oh!, starting off with Yugi Muto, then Jaden Yuki & Yusei Fudo. It was an extra created by 4Kids in order to lengthen the 24 minute original feature. It may have been unnecessary, but I didn’t mind it.
Anyone familiar with Yu-Gi-Oh! knows about the main themes in the series: friendship, dueling & saving the world from evil. The themes played out well in the movie- the trio of hero’s want to protect their friends & stop Paradox from his malevolent goal. I thought the story was good. It was straight forward, even though it was a little confusing with the time-hoping.
The movie itself was practically non-stop action packed with dragons blowing up buildings, cities being destroyed & monsters fighting. One of the most memorable moments in the film was when Yugi awoke from a leveled Domino City to find his Grandfather gone. The entire scene was very well done. It also good to see Jack & Crow in the film breifly with their usual wisecracks. ^^
The artwork was cool in my opinion. Of course, you can’t appreciate the 3D movie without the dorky 3D glasses! When Paradox summoned The Malefic World field spell card, the effects were amazing & well animated.
My only complaint about the movie was that 4kids, as usual, removed the original Japanese music. But that’s still pretty minor. I’m just glad that they released the movie in the US!
Overall: I thought it was awesome! *__* My parents even enjoyed it. The movie didn’t have to be 90mins, it was perfect as it was. It was funny when Paradox was defeated, people in the theater were clapping. The ending of the film was good as well. Very exciting from begining to end!
People who attended the movie were given promotional items!
