Back from the Country

Back from our trip upstate, can’t say I missed Long Island! Beautiful rolling meadows of golden dandelions and emerald greens, trees leafed out, clean air, rivers, streams, quiet, spacious – my type of neighborhood! The mountains looked gorgeous. We’re in the process of moving. It’s a beautiful, very rural area with nothing but rolling hills, mountains, streams and lots of cattle, horses, chickens and nothing but farms – I LOVE IT!!

We put out some bird feeders at our new house and already got some birds! Bobolinks, Savannah Sparrows, American Goldfinches and Chipping Sparrows and also saw lots of Baltimore Orioles in our woods, Red-tailed Hawks and good ‘ol Canada Geese (I love geese, grew up hearing their musical honking by Canaan Lake).¬†Heard many new bird songs! The other night however was crazy!

I saw a storm-cloud in the West and it turned out to be the longest, most violent Thunderstorm I have ever seen! It lasted the entire night, louder than a heavy metal rock band and rain that sounded like stones and wind was roaring. But today the weather was beautiful, warm, windy and sunny! I’m sad to be back in overcrowded, noisy, industrialized Long Island… I can’t wait to live upstate! Yuki looks quite at home in our field of dandelions already ^_ ^ More pictures coming soon! 20140515-222043.jpg

  3. Melissa

Your dog looks so happy there. I bet you are thrilled that she will spend the rest of her life in the country.

What do you think?
